The Camp
"Mom, Dad? I think there will be no sausages..." This is what happens when families camp in wild forest, where fauns are not quite extinct yet. Painted with color inks again, this time on plain watercolor paper.

The Artist
No deep thought behind this picture; it was just a doodle sketch. But the colors turned out so electric, that I just had to finish. I'm not sure if it's visible here, but in real world this picture almost glows. So, here's the recipe:  smooth paper  + markers + blue and black ink + yellow and white gouache + fineliner to make thin black details + razor blade to make thin white details. I have also used a black Derwent pencil but this is only because I'm not able to draw anything without a pencil. I could have forgotten something, but this is the list of most important ingredients to get truly crazy colors. Paper is important. It was a package carton (back side of a block of paper). It's covered with something, I don't know, lacquer or plastic? Anyway, inks stay on the surface and you can smear and mix them like fresh acrylic paint.

Love's Forgiving, or Turtle Valentine
Flowers are short-living and turtles are slow; good that true love is forgiving. If it wasn't, Valentine's Day could go really bad for some. Pencils and Liquitex inks on yellow paper.

Teddy Bear Reading
My task for yesterday: a teddy reading a book under a bent tree. Simple scene, but I like how cheerful it turned out.

Magnolia Twice
I got a bit tired of snow and frost... so just for a change, something blooming. Based on a photo, of course. Two little pictures, about 16 cm, or 6 inches high. This way my big sheet of paper was used to the very end!

Poland
Hello! My name is Joanna, I live in Jura Upland with my family, 2 dogs and an old mare; you can see her here, putting her head into the kitchen window, hoping to find bread on the table.
Once upon a time I studied architecture but instead of building houses I worked as a graphic designer. When we moved to live in the country, my family and me, I started to translate books about graphic software for a publisher based in Silesia. In the meantime our two sons grew up big enough to take care of themselves, and I have used my free time to explore watercolor, ink and crayons. Soon I've discovered I love to draw fairytale and fantasy scenes. Hobby has evolved into a job: I'm a freelance illustrator now and I like my new occupation!
